STAR SPEEDWAY IS BACK IN ACTION THIS SATURDAY JUNE 1ST WITH THE MARCO TURCOTTE MEMORIAL RACE5/28/2024 After a week off from competition to celebrate Memorial Day weekend, the schedule ramps back up at Star Speedway this Saturday night, June 1. Headlining the slate for this weekend is the Marco Turcotte Memorial race for Star Speedway’s top division, the N.E. Concrete Foundations 350 Supers. Joining the 350s on the schedule will be the Woody’s Auto Street Stocks, Slingshots, Six Shooters, and MLM Diagnostic Services Pure Stocks.
Saturday's schedule will have the pit area opening up at 3:30 pm for Star members, and 3:45 pm for all others. Pit admission will be $30 for members, and $40 for non-members. General admission is set to open up at 4pm Saturday afternoon, with admission pricing being $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and military, and $10 for juniors. Practice is set to begin at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, with qualifying to follow at 6pm. The Marco Turcotte Memorial for the 350 Supers will be a 40 lap main event, while the Woody’s Auto Street Stocks, and Slingshots will each run 25 lap feature events. The Six Shooters, along with the MLM Diagnostic Services Pure Stocks, will both be racing 20 laps in their respective main events. Star Speedway was back on track this past weekend, with their first Friday night program of the 2024 racing season. on Friday, May 17. Friday’s racing action featured some of Star Speedway’s most competitive weekly racing divisions, as the Ken Izzett Construction Late Models were on schedule for 50 laps around the Epping oval to kick-off their season. The Woody’s Auto Street Stocks, Six Shooters, Pure Stocks, and Pro V8 Sportsman were also all on hand as part of Friday's racing program.
George Maroun topped a competitive field of Late Models, as the veteran driver claimed his first win of the 2024 season in his George's Bakery sponsored machine. Connor McDougal had a solid run in a new car, coming off of a hard crash at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in his last outing, finishing in second. Adam Lovejoy drove his Renfrew Motorsports sponsored number 2 to a podium finish on Friday, as he claimed the third position behind Maroon and McDougal. In Woody’s Auto Street Stock action, Charlie Baldwin was able to shake off some early season bad luck and claim his first Star Speedway win of the season in the division's main event. Young gun Clark Brooks drove his family owned ride to a runner up position, with last years champion Shane Gendron rounding off the podium in third. Kody Parker proved himself the man to beat in Six Shooter competition, as he grabbed checkers in Friday nights feature race. Paul Childs continued to have a solid start to his 2024 campaign, grabbing another runner up finish behind Parker. Six Shooter veteran Adam Knowles trailed Parker and Childs to the line to claim third spot on Friday night. The MLM Diagnostic Services Pure Stocks saw Andrew Harmon set the pace and grab the feature win during the division's Friday night main event. Former Pure Stock champion George Riley Jr. followed Harmon across the stripe to claim second, with Cody Fissette rounding out the top three. Matt Robinson rolled into Star victory lane for the first time this season, as he drove his Pro V8 Sportsman to the win during the division's Friday night feature race. Jimmy Renfrew Sr. was next across the line behind Robinson when checkers flew, with Mitch Wendell rounding out the podium in the third spot. The main event for the evening, the Bob Webber Sr/Jim Martel Memorial, saw defending Star Speedway 350 Supers track champion Jeffrey Battle claim the win over a couple of his family members when checkers flew. While the young open-wheel standout added yet another win to his career total, veteran Eddie Witkum Jr. piloted his Callahan Motorsports mount to a second-place finish, while Ryan Battle rounded out the podium with a third-place run. Rob Richardi continued his reign of recent dominance in the Pro 4 Modified feature event, as he took home top honors in the first appearance at Star Speedway this season. Jack Dumas had a strong run on Saturday, as the Brockton, Massachusetts, driver claimed runner-up honors behind Richardi. Kurt Lester was next across the stripe behind the top duo in third place. The Slingshots were back in action on Saturday, and it was a story of the rookies. Rookie Gage Osborne claimed his first career win in the division, as the former Pure Stock standout made the jump up this season. Jake Rheaume, who is also running his first season as a Slingshot driver in 2024, took home the second position, posting his strongest run to date in the process. Third place went to Billy Eastman, who along with Osborne, has also found his way to victory lane this year early in their rookie seasons. Sean Nadeau topped the competition in the Pure Stock division on Saturday, claiming his first Star Speedway win of 2024. Jameson Ritter put in a solid run during the main event and claimed runner up honors while former Pure Stock champion and fan favorite George Riley Jr. rounded off the Pure Stock division podium in third place. The Six Shooters feature saw Ryan Partridge in victory lane, claiming his first Star Speedway feature win of the year. The Slingshots will be back in action on Saturday night as well for 25 laps, along with the Six Shooters and Pure Stocks, who each will be running 20-lap main events. Saturday's racing program will kick-off with practice beginning at 3 p.m., and the first green flag of the afternoon is scheduled to wave at 5 p.m. with the start of qualifying. Pit gates are scheduled to open at 2:30 p.m. for Star members, and 2:45 p.m. for all others. Pit admission for Saturday's event will be for $40 Star members and $45 for all others. Joining four of Star Speedway’s weekly divisions, the Granite State Pro Stock Series was in town for the Spring 100. The N.E. Concrete Foundations 350 Supermodifieds were on hand for their first event of 2024, while the Woody’s Street Stocks, Six Shooters, and Crown Vic Cruisers all running their second races of 2024. Northeast Pro Stock veteran Travis Benjamin made his way to the front of a stout field of competition and held on to add another win to his impressive career resume in the Granite State Pro Stocks Spring 100. Casey Call, who has become a contender in just about every race he enters, claimed runner up honors, with Ryan Green trailing Call to the line to round off the podium in third. Benjamin’s win was his second straight in the GSPSS Star opener. Two-time defending Star Speedway 350 Supers champion Jeffrey Battle Jr. began his title defense back in victory lane, as he grabbed checkers in the division's first main event of 2024. Matt Seavy led through the early stages of the race before relinquishing the lead to Battle and settling for second. Dwarf car ace Justin Harris rounded off the podium in third. Jimmy Renfrew Jr. made his first appearance at Star Speedway this season and found his way to victory lane in Street Stock action. JT Cashman backed up a strong run at the season opening Bunny Brawl with a second straight podium, as he trailed Renfrew to the line on the final lap. Jeff Alley was another driver who had a solid night at the Epping oval, picking up this first Star podium of the new season. The Six Shooter division saw veteran Adam Knowles bounce back from opening week's misfortunes to claim his first win of the year. Paul Childs finished the race in the runner up spot for the second consecutive week, while Ryan Partridge rounded out the top three finishing positions. Traver Michaud was the driver to beat in Cruiser action on Saturday, as he claimed the feature win in the popular division. Patrick Tanguay drove his Cruiser to a second-place finish. Star Speedway will be back on track next weekend on Saturday, May 11, with the historic Bob Webber Sr/Martel Family 350 Supermodified memorial race and more.
