Saturday night, Star Speedway was back in action with their second event of the 2024 racing season.
Joining four of Star Speedway’s weekly divisions, the Granite State Pro Stock Series was in town for the Spring 100. The N.E. Concrete Foundations 350 Supermodifieds were on hand for their first event of 2024, while the Woody’s Street Stocks, Six Shooters, and Crown Vic Cruisers all running their second races of 2024. Northeast Pro Stock veteran Travis Benjamin made his way to the front of a stout field of competition and held on to add another win to his impressive career resume in the Granite State Pro Stocks Spring 100. Casey Call, who has become a contender in just about every race he enters, claimed runner up honors, with Ryan Green trailing Call to the line to round off the podium in third. Benjamin’s win was his second straight in the GSPSS Star opener. Two-time defending Star Speedway 350 Supers champion Jeffrey Battle Jr. began his title defense back in victory lane, as he grabbed checkers in the division's first main event of 2024. Matt Seavy led through the early stages of the race before relinquishing the lead to Battle and settling for second. Dwarf car ace Justin Harris rounded off the podium in third. Jimmy Renfrew Jr. made his first appearance at Star Speedway this season and found his way to victory lane in Street Stock action. JT Cashman backed up a strong run at the season opening Bunny Brawl with a second straight podium, as he trailed Renfrew to the line on the final lap. Jeff Alley was another driver who had a solid night at the Epping oval, picking up this first Star podium of the new season. The Six Shooter division saw veteran Adam Knowles bounce back from opening week's misfortunes to claim his first win of the year. Paul Childs finished the race in the runner up spot for the second consecutive week, while Ryan Partridge rounded out the top three finishing positions. Traver Michaud was the driver to beat in Cruiser action on Saturday, as he claimed the feature win in the popular division. Patrick Tanguay drove his Cruiser to a second-place finish. Star Speedway will be back on track next weekend on Saturday, May 11, with the historic Bob Webber Sr/Martel Family 350 Supermodified memorial race and more.
