Star Speedway kicked off their 2024 racing season this past Saturday, April 27, with the annual Bunny Brawl. A few of Star Speedway's weekly divisions ran their first main events of the new season on Saturday, with the Street Stocks running the first MLM Diagnostic Services Fast 40 event of the year. Joining them in action were the Slingshots, Six Shooters, Mighty Trucks, and Cruisers along with Enduro racing. Veteran Joe Ventrillo topped the Street Stock division after a late race battle with Charlie Baldwin. Defending division champion Shane Gendron followed Ventrillo to the line, with former Six Shooter champion JT Cashman rounding out the top three. The Slingshots saw Billy Eastman, who made the jump up this year after several seasons in the Six Shooters, take top honors in his first career start in the division. One of the young guns who has really established himself as a championship contender over the last few seasons, Dwight Souther Jr., trailed Eastman to the finish, taking runner up honors in the season opener. Kody Parker started off his season in the best way possible in Six Shooter action, as he topped the competition during Saturday's main event. Paul Childs had a solid run to kick off the year taking the second spot in the main event, with Ryan Partridge rounding off the podium in third. In the Mighty Trucks, Dave Lamson picked up right where he left off in 2023, with another trip to Star victory lane. Jeffrey Mains drove his Truck to a second place finish in the season opener with Kyle Chandler trailing him to the finish to round out the top three. Bella Flaherty topped the competition and took home the win during the Cruiser divisions first race of the new season. Bunny Brawl Enduro winners were Richie Johnson in the V6/V8 class, while Daniel Bubba Delaney took home the hardware in the 4 cylinder race. Star Speedway will be back on track on Saturday, May 4, with the Granite State Pro Stock Series in town for 100 laps.
