Star Speedway wrapped up their July racing schedule this past Saturday with four of their weekly divisions on track set to battle.
The Izzett Construction Late Models, Woody’s Auto Street Stocks, Six Shooters, and Crown Vic Cruisers were all in action as part of this weekend's Saturday night schedule. The Izzett Construction Late Models saw Chase Curtis out pace his brother Jarret en route to taking home the feature win. Jarret Curtis was able to claim the second spot when checkers flew, with Colby Meserve rounding off the podium in the third position in the New England Epoxy 75, worth $2,000 to win. Ryan Partridge topped the competition in Six Shooter action, as he added another Star Speedway win to his career resume. Next across the stripe was Matthew Hurteau who claimed second, with Kody Parker trailing Partridge and Hurteau to take home a third-place finish. In Saturday's Crown Vic Cruiser main event, it was Jake Michaud claiming the feature win, as he held off all challengers to take top honors on the night. Veteran Patrick Tanguay was next across the line on the final lap to take second, with Alex Tanguay rounding off the podium in the third position. In the Woody’s Street Stocks, Shane Gendron picked up the victory in another round of the MLM Fast 40. Originally, Adam Lovejoy, J.T. Cashman and Charlie Baldwin completed the podium. However, all three did not make it through post-race inspection. Star Speedway is back in action next Saturday with another exciting night of racing on tap. NEW ENGLAND EPOXY SUPPLY 75 FOR IZZETT CONSTRUCTION LATE MODELS THIS SATURDAY AT STAR SPEEDWAY7/25/2024 Things will be heating back up at the Epping oval this Saturday, July 27th, with a full slate of action scheduled, including 75 laps for the Izzett Construction Late Models. Also on the card for Saturday night will be the Woody’s Auto Street Stocks, running another leg of the MLM Diagnostic Services Fast 40 series, the Crown Vic Cruisers and a special 35-lap race, the Don & Aline Coster Memorial, for the Six Shooters.
All of the action Saturday night at Star Speedway begins at 6PM. Saturday's full schedule will begin with the pit area opening up at 3:30PM for Star members, and 3:45PM for non members. Pit admission will be $30 for Star members, and $40 for non-members. Grandstands are scheduled to open up at 4PM, with admission being $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/military, and $10 for juniors. On track activity for Saturday night will begin at 4:30PM with the start of practice. The first green flag of the evening will wave at 6PM with the start of heat racing and feature racing is scheduled to follow. Weekly divisions were in action along with a few touring series invaders who came through town, as the S.T.A.R. Antique Racers, NELCAR Tour, and R&R Street Stock Tour were all on the schedule, setting up two busy days of racing excitement. Friday night's action saw Cole Robie win in the NELCAR Legend race, while Grayson Day took home top honors in NELCAR Bandolero action. Jimmy Renfrew Jr. doubled up in Pro V8 Sportsman competition, as he took checkers in both of the divisions Friday night features. In the Crown Vic Cruisers main event, it was Adam Lovejoy who claimed the win, while Keith Holtby found victory lane in the Mighty Truck feature event. Saturday night was highlighted by the R&R Street Stock Tour rolling into town. Joining them in action were the Izzett Construction Late Models, Bumpy's Auto Slingshots, the Six Shooters, and the MLM Diagnostic Services Pure Stocks. In the R&R Street Stock main, it was Star regular Shane Gendron who was first to the stripe when checkers flew, followed by Charles Baldwin. JT Cashman rounded out the podium with a third place finish. Justin Storace topped all comers to claim victory in the Izzett Construction Late Model feature, while Adam Lovejoy was next across the line, with rookie Nate Leclair securing a season best third place run. The Bumpy's Auto Slingshots saw Dwight Souther Jr. get the win on track, but post-race inspection awarded the top spot to Jacob Vaughn after violations were found on the ride of Souther and Billy Eastman. In Six Shooter action, it was Paul Childs who added another win to his resume, while Jeremiah Sergeant raced his way to a second place effort and following Sergeant to the line in third was Adam Knowles. Former Star Speedway Pure Stock champ George Riley Jr. took the win in the division's main event over Sean Nadeau who finished second, while Daryl Quinlan rounded off the podium in third. The S.T.A.R. Modified winner was John Mulcahy, while George Gilbert won the S.T.A.R. Sportsman feature. Star Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, July 27 for another night of racing. Veteran driver Eddie Witkum Jr. topped a tough field of competitors in his Callahan Motorsports ride and took home his first Star Speedway win of the 2024 racing season. The runner-up spot went to Ryan Locke, while Ben Tinker crossed the line in the third position. In Woody’s Auto Street Stock action, former Star Speedway track champion Adam Lovejoy was first to the line when checkers flew. Lovejoy, who has competed in a variety of divisions already this season, took down his first Street Stock win this year. Charlie Baldwin was next across the line behind Lovejoy, with Justin Beecher taking the third position. Jacob Vaughn beat all comers on Saturday night, as he drove his way to his first career Bumpy's Auto Slingshot win in the division's 25-lap main event. Jake Rheaume trailed Vaughn to the line as the checkered flag flew with former Pure Stock standout Gage Osborne rounding off the podium in the third spot. Saturday's Six Shooter action saw Matthew Hurteau top the competition en route to claiming his first Star Speedway win of the 2024 season. Trailing Hurteau to the finish was Ryan McCarthy, who claimed the second position when checkers flew. Patrick Joslin had himself a strong run taking the final podium position. In the MLM Diagnostic Services Pure Stocks, Cody Hodge took home top honors in the division's feature event. The runner-up spot went to Shawn Nadeau, who followed Hodge to the line at the finish. The final podium spot went to former Star Pure Stock champion George Riley Jr. Star Speedway will return to action next weekend with racing on both Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. EPPING, N.H. – Saturday night at Star Speedway was just another day at the office for Matt Hirschman. The Northampton, Penn., open-wheel ace outgunned Anthony Nocella and Brian Robie to win the Racers Honoring Racers 76 Modified open. Hirschman put together a flawless day from start to finish to earn the $7,600 winner’s purse.
“That was the best day I’ve had at the track all year,” Hirschman said of his performance. “It just clicked all day.” Saturday night’s show drew together the best of the best from the Northeast’s various Tour-type Modified programs, from the NASCAR Modified Tour and Tri-Track Series to the Modified Racing Series and weekly tracks across the region. But few in the pits had anything for “Big Money Matt,” who set fast time in qualifying and won his heat to set the tone for the evening. Anthony Nocella and Matt Swanson also scored heat wins in setting the lineup for the 24-car field. Already a winner under multiple banners this season, Hirschman drove to victory with Nocella just over a second behind. Brian Robie finished third, with Mike Collins fourth and Connecticut star Ronnie Williams rounding out the top five. Despite the threat of rain, a full complement of support races went off without a hitch on Saturday as well. Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. of Candia, N.H., took the R&R Race Parts Open Street Stocks win over Maine’s Kris Watson in a 75-lap showdown. Matthew Hurteau was tops in the Six Shooters feature, and Andrew Harmon took the checkers in the Pure Stock 20-lapper. Double features were held for NELCAR Legends teams, with Josh Parsons holding off Cole Robie in the first and Reagan Parent topping Robie in the second. Brody Wakefield rounded out the day’s features with a win in the Bandoleros. Star Speedway was also in action with $5 Friday presented by Little Billy’s Tees on Friday. Only the Crown Vic Cruisers and Junk Yard Dogs completed their feature races before rain hit the area. Star Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, July 13 for another round of racing. EPPING, N.H. — Unfortunately, mother nature cut short the Saturday portion of Star Speedway’s weekend doubleheader on June 29. However, the $5 Friday Series presented by Little Billy’s Tees program went off without a hitch under clear skies. The Pro V8 Sportsman, New England Dwarf Cars, NELCAR Legends and Bandoleros, Crown Vic Cruisers, Mighty Trucks and Junkyard Dogs were all on hand Friday night for what was a busy night of racing action. The Pro V8 Sportsman saw Matt Robinson top a competitive field of cars and find his way back to Star victory lane. The New England Dwarf Car Series drivers were also on the card and Tom Harwood was first across the line when checkers flew. In NELCAR action Cole Robie repeated as winner in Legend car action, scoring back-to-back on the Friday series in the Nick Lascuola Racing ride. Veteran driver Patrick Tanguay grabbed his second Star Speedway win of the 2024 season in the Crown Vic Cruisers on Friday night. In the Mighty Truck main it was Keith Hoffman across the stripe first, while Krissy Rizzuto grabbed top honors in the Junkyard Dog feature race. Star Speedway will be back on track on Friday, July 5 with the $5 Friday Series presented by Little Billy’s Tees and a special rental event on Saturday, July 6, which includes the Open Tour-Type Modifieds racing for 76 laps, the R&R Street Stocks and more.
