WITKUM, MELVIN, OSBORNE, LAFAYETTE, MICHAUD SCORE EARLY SEASON WINS AT STAR SPEEDWAY

With rain sweeping through the area on Saturday, last weekend's Star Speedway racing program was rescheduled for Sunday afternoon. It was the Bob Webber Sr. / Jim Martel Memorial race for the Armor Tech Coatings 350 Supermodifieds. Also on track Sunday were the Outlaw Late Models, Slingshots, Six Shooters, and Cruisers.

Ed Witkum Jr. came out of the gate strong, as he outran the last two Star Speedway 350 Supermodified track champions in route to the Bob Webber Sr. / Jim Martel Memorial feature win. Jeffrey Battle Jr. crossed the line in the second position, with Bobby Timmons III rounding off the opening week's podium with a third place finish. The event was 47-laps, paying $1,947 to win, with countless bonus awards also distributed.
In Outlaw Late Model action it was veteran Bobby Melvin Jr. taking home opening day checkers in the division's first main event of 2026. Second position went to Bobby Cabral, with Randy Cole next to the stripe finishing out the event in the third spot.

The Bumpy’s Slingshots saw former track champion Gage Osborne take down an early season win in the division's feature race. Cali Osbourne beat out another former track champion in Joey Fraser to claim second, while Fraser finished out the race in third.

Mike Lafayette bested the field and took home the victory in Six Shooter action Sunday afternoon. In the Cruiser feature event it was Jake Michaud taking down the win. Second position went to Thomas Harton, with Traver Michaud rounding off the podium with a third place finish.

Star Speedway will return to racing action on Saturday, May 9, with a special event headlined by the Pro All Stars Series (150 laps), the American-Canadian Tour (150 laps), PASS Modifieds and New England Supermodified Series.
